The useful question here is, “What daily energy intake would the current DRI model predict for weight maintenance?” The calculator chooses the exact coefficient row for the declared equation branch and activity category, then combines age in years, height in centimeters, and weight in kilograms. That is different from the TDEE calculator, which first predicts resting expenditure and multiplies it by a numeric long-term PAL. Two people can enter similar body measurements yet obtain different answers when their activity classifications differ.
The result is expressed in kilocalories per day and rounded only for display. It is not a count of calories already eaten, a fitness-tracker total, or a claim that every day has identical expenditure. Low active and active describe accumulated days

Very active is a bounded research category
It should not be selected simply because one session felt difficult. A hard hour can coexist with a mostly sedentary week, while a physically demanding job can raise expenditure without formal exercise.
Turn the First Number into a Two-Week Observation
- Preserve the assumptions
Write down the equation branch, activity category, current measurements, and calculation date. Without those inputs, a later difference cannot be interpreted.
- Plan nutrients separately

- Compare against a trend
