The 42 multiple-choice questions need two raw inputs
For the May 2027 administration, College Board splits multiple choice into Part A with 29 noncalculator questions worth 35% of the exam and Part B with 13 calculator questions worth 15%. The six free-response questions supply the remaining 50%: calculator-required Questions 1–2 account for 16⅔%, and noncalculator Questions 3–6 account for 33⅓%. Current scoring materials assign nine rubric points to each FRQ, so the interface keeps six separate 0–9 entries while grouping them by calculator rule.
Do not collapse the May 2027 MCQs into one score out of 42. The two raw pools are not proportional to their published weights, so one correct Part A response and one correct Part B response contribute slightly different amounts. With A and B as the two MCQ correct counts and F as the sum of all six FRQ scores, the exact formula is 35 × A ÷ 29 + 15 × B ÷ 13 + 50 × F ÷ 54. It reaches exactly 100 at 29, 13, and 54; calculation should retain full precision and round only what the page displays.

- Choose the matching administration
Leave May 2027 selected for a 29-plus-13 practice form. Select the clearly labeled May 2026 legacy option only when the source form uses that administration's 30-plus-15 multiple-choice split; an older 45-question form can divide its calculator parts differently and should not be forced into these fields.
- Enter correct MCQ counts
Record Part A and Part B separately in the current mode. AP multiple-choice scoring is based on correct responses, with no extra deduction for an incorrect or unanswered item. Do not type a percentage into a raw-count field.
- Score all six FRQs
Use the guideline supplied with that exact form and enter 0–9 for every question. Award rubric points for valid setup, reasoning, notation, units, and interpretation where the guide permits them rather than grading only the final answer.
- Read contribution before band
Compare the weighted MCQ Part A, MCQ Part B, and FRQ contributions first. Then use the dated worksheet band for what-if planning, keeping the form date, time conditions, and scoring source in the same practice log.
Legacy arithmetic and the dated worksheet band stay separate
The optional May 2026 legacy mode keeps the 30-question Part A and 15-question Part B visible, then combines them as one MCQ total out of 45 because every legacy MCQ carries the same raw-score multiplier. Its official-weight practice arithmetic is 50 × (A + B) ÷ 45 + 50 × F ÷ 54. That is equivalent to the familiar 108-point rehearsal scale 1.2 × (A + B) + F, but the page reports the normalized 0–100 result so current and legacy attempts can be compared without pretending their forms had identical difficulty.
The planning overlay follows the conversion table printed in College Board's 2012 released AP Calculus AB practice exam. That worksheet says to keep component scores unrounded, round the /108 composite to the nearest whole number, and then use 33, 41, 54, and 67 as the lower integer bounds for scores 2, 3, 4, and 5. On this page's continuous 0–100 chart, the corresponding rounding transitions occur at about 30.09, 37.50, 49.54, and 61.57. Those are historical 2012 worksheet boundaries, not current College Board cut scores. The official-weight composite exists independently of this overlay; score setting and psychometric equating can move the boundaries for another exam version.
Worked May 2027 example exposes the useful gap
Suppose a student answers 20 of 29 Part A questions and 9 of 13 Part B questions correctly, then earns FRQ scores of 5, 6, 4, 5, 3, and 4. Part A contributes 35 × 20 ÷ 29 = 24.1379 points, Part B contributes 15 × 9 ÷ 13 = 10.3846, and the 27 of 54 FRQ points contribute 25. The full-precision composite is 59.5225, displayed as 59.52. The 2012 worksheet reference converts that to band 4; it does not establish an official AP score of 4.
The diagnostic signal is stronger than the band: the combined MCQ performance earns about 34.52 of its 50 available points, while FRQ earns 25 of 50. Review the six scoring guides and classify every lost point as setup, calculus process, algebra, notation, justification, or contextual interpretation. Use the derivative calculator or integral calculator only after recreating the work by hand; these tools can check a bounded operation but cannot supply rubric credit for reasoning.
Let the weakest weighted channel choose the next drill
Part A trails
Rehearse noncalculator simplification, sign analysis, limits, derivative rules, and representation changes under the 62-minute constraint. The slope calculator can help audit a secant or tangent computation after the timed set, but keep the original reasoning visible.
Part B trails
Check graphing-calculator setup, window choice, intersections, numerical derivatives, and definite integrals. Repeat a short calculator-required set without pausing, then verify whether the loss came from device entry, interpretation, or calculus rather than labeling it simply as a calculator problem.
FRQ Questions 1–2 trail
Practice stating the mathematical setup before using technology and interpreting the returned value with units and context. Compare each line against the exact rubric; a correct decimal alone can still miss evidence the reader requires.
FRQ Questions 3–6 trail
Build complete noncalculator arguments: define quantities, show transformations, cite theorem conditions, and close with a contextual conclusion. Retest the same failure category on an unseen prompt instead of memorizing the released solution.
Frequently asked boundaries for an AB estimate
Does the band predict May?
No. It is a stable what-if reference for this page, while College Board can set different cut scores after evaluating a particular exam version. Near-boundary changes are useful sensitivity checks, not confidence guarantees.
Why not enter one total out of 42?
Because May 2027 Part A and Part B have different published weights relative to their question counts. Two separate correct counts preserve 35% and 15%; one pooled count cannot identify where those correct responses occurred.
Can a 2026 form be entered?
Yes, when it follows the May 2026 30-question Part A and 15-question Part B structure. Keep that split and label the saved result as legacy; do not combine a 2026 MCQ total with May 2027 part weights, and do not assume every older 45-question form used the same split.
Does this set a class grade?
No. If the question is what score a syllabus requires on a classroom final, use the final exam calculator. Teacher weighting, College Board scoring, and college credit policies are separate decisions.
