No. Interest earned is a money amount, such as $1,500. The interest percentage describes that amount relative to principal and time, such as 5% per year under the simple-interest example on this page.

Should I choose simple, compound, or continuous interest?

Use the method stated by the contract, account disclosure, or exercise. Choose simple when prior interest never joins the interest-bearing base, periodic compound when interest is credited at a stated frequency, and continuous only when continuous compounding is explicitly specified.

Can I calculate a rate from a term in months?

Yes, if the interface supports months or you convert the term consistently. For this annual model, divide whole months by 12. For example, 18 months is 1.5 years. A product that uses exact days may require its stated day-count convention instead.

Can I find a loan rate from the loan amount, monthly payment, and term?
