Freeze the recipe, build, source, and value unit before adding
The official Roblox experience describes The Forge as a beta game with varied ore combinations and continuing updates. That makes a date and source essential. Name the game build, guide, test log, or private assumptions behind the entries, and identify one common value unit for every material, other cost, and output. Mixing guide points with an unrelated market scale produces a total with no coherent meaning.
Treat labels as evidence rather than decoration. Include tier, variant, patch, or quality in the ore name when it changes the source value. The worksheet aligns each label with one positive whole-number quantity and one nonnegative value per unit; it never maps a typed label to an internal catalog. A missing or uncertain value should be researched, not disguised as a known zero.
Reconcile one attempt before scaling a run
- Total entered ore value
For each line, multiply quantity per attempt by the entered value per unit, then sum the line values. Keep quantities and values in matching order so one ore cannot inherit another ore's price.
- Add non-ore cost once per attempt
A separately valued reroll, fee, time allowance, or other declared cost joins the ore subtotal. Use zero only when the scenario intentionally excludes such a cost.
- Scale inputs by planned attempts
Multiply the complete per-attempt input by the entered attempt count. The count is a scenario size, not a suggestion to spend resources or continue after losses.
- Keep output assumptions on the same scale
Outputs per success and value per output unit must describe the same weapon, armor, or other declared outcome context. No trait, quality, stat, or resale premium is inferred.
Expected value describes an average across the declared model
Expected successful attempts
Multiply planned attempts by the entered chance as a decimal. A result such as 2.4 is a probability-weighted expectation, not a prediction that a fractional craft occurs.
Expected gross output value
Multiply expected successes by outputs per success and the declared value per output. This remains conditional on every source assumption and does not establish a live market value.
Expected net value
Subtract total entered input value from expected gross output value. A positive number means the entered average model is above its declared cost, not that the next attempt will profit.
Arithmetic break-even chance
Solve for the success chance at which expected gross value equals entered input cost. Compare the user's chance with that threshold in percentage points, while remembering that neither number has been verified by the calculator.
Probability quality matters more than decimal precision
A success chance copied from an old patch, a small personal sample, or an unexplained community table can be precise-looking and still be unreliable. Preserve sample conditions, recipe identity, result definition, and observation count when available. If attempts are affected by pity systems, changing states, conditional traits, player skill, or dependent outcomes, one fixed percentage may not describe the process.
The calculator performs deterministic arithmetic on the chance supplied. It does not test randomness, construct a confidence interval, infer independence, or update a probability after failures. Run alternative low, central, and high assumptions when the source is uncertain, then compare how the break-even conclusion moves rather than presenting one output as settled truth.
