A weekly total should be traceable to individual punches

Enter each start and finish as a pair, then put an unpaid meal or other noncompensable break on that same row. The calculator converts the two clock readings to elapsed minutes, crosses midnight only when Next day is selected, subtracts the declared break, and adds the net row to the week. A blank day contributes nothing; an equal start and finish represents zero rather than an assumed twenty-four-hour shift. Those visible rules prevent a plausible-looking total from hiding an unintended rollover.

Split shifts belong on separate rows because each interval can then be checked independently. If someone works 7:30–11:30 and 13:00–17:15, recording two periods is clearer than entering one long span and guessing a break. The pay figure excludes taxes, benefits, premiums, and other payroll rules. The 10-, 30-, and 60-minute choices are arithmetic presets, not claims that those intervals are lawful for any employer or jurisdiction.
